Water Damage

IT’S TIME TO RETHINK RESTORATION.

When you’ve got water damage it is critical to engage a team of experts to respond, assess and handle the destruction. Water damage carries different classifications, each with its own set of strict requirements that must be met to ensure consumer safety and the effectiveness of the solution. Kinetics’ expert team accurately classifies your damage, designs a custom plan for resolution and delivers only the highest quality restoration product.

There is a science to drying.

Upon calling Kinetic, clients will be guided through a series of questions to help determine where the water is coming from and how long it’s been there. Water that has damaged your home or business will be assessed by our experts and then classified into one of three categories.

Category I water, commonly referred to as “clear water,” comes from the supply lines in your home and has been there for less than 24 hours. The water may originate from a frozen pipe, a supply line under your sink or the wall to the tank behind your toilet. As a rule of thumb Category I water doesn’t smell, is clear and is likely potable. Don’t, however, take chances, and call the experts at Kinetic first.

Property that has come into contact with Category I water can typically be saved if the surfaces can be dried without visible or structural damage. Cardboard boxes and cabinetry may be lost, but carpet and even drywall can often be saved. For reference, clear water becomes Category II water after it sits for 24 hours.

Category II water, referred to as “gray water”, comes from sinks, toilet bowls and drains. The rule of thumb here is “It looks ok, but it would likely make me sick if I were to drink it.” Because Category II water has been in contact with microorganisms and/or biological matter, it carries a higher probability of growing mold. Whether or not property can be saved will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Carpet can sometimes stay if it hasn’t delaminated, or the backing has not started to peel away. Musty odors, however, are a distinct issue. Kinetic will collaborate with clients in this situation, and recommend either removal or deep cleaning depending on the severity of the odor. Drywall is typically damaged by contact with gray water and should be removed.

Category III, or “black water” comes from the sewer system or window wells. Ground water is considered Category III because of the high probability that it is carrying microbial growth. As a rule of thumb, don’t go anywhere near this water. Porous materials in the area affected with black water must come out quickly to prevent microbial growth. Take black water seriously and reduce the health risks this water presents by acting quickly and engaging the experts at Kinetic. If water has been standing longer than two days or the timeframe cannot accurately be determined the water will be considered Category III and handled accordingly.

When faced with the uncertainty and destruction of water damage choose Kinetic as your advocate. Our courteous and professional team of experts use their 30 plus years of drying experience to effectively minimize the disruption to you, your home, property or business.
